Lama Temple, Dinner with Apple & Cherry, Mansion of Prince Gong, Confucius Temple

While John & Ash are traveling in Qinghai, here is my last bunch of pix from Beijing.

The Lama Temple (Yonghegong) "was constructed during the 17th century and converted into a Tibetan lamasery in 1744."

The scent of burning offering incense floats in the air of the temple

Back on Wangfujing Street, we met two of Ashley's students, Apple and Cherry, at the Beijing Roast Duck Restaurant, and had Peking Duck.

A Buddhist temple we passed walking through the hutong on the way to the Mansion of Prince Gong

The Mansion of Prince Gong is "Beijing's most complete example of an historic mansion...it was supposedly the inspiration behind the residence portrayed by Cao Xueqin in his classic 18th-century novel Dream of the Red Chamber," which John read over the last year.

"The Confucius Temple is the largest in China outside Qufu, the philosopher's birthplace in Shandong province...first built in 1302 during the Mongol Yuan dynasty."

Travel safe, Ash & John!
