Spring in Southwest China

HELLO EVERYONE! I miss everyone and I hope this post finds springtime in full bloom. It has been hard for me to keep up on all the strange weather in the States... I thought I would post some pics of recent happenings around Luzhou and Chongqing. I hope you enjoy them!

I think Ash was being eaten by a dragon...
Flower in Bloom
These strange lettuce flowers didn't make the cut
Ash with a new drunk friend at Jiushi Shan
Dried Rice Paddies
The Dragon's Head
Food made by students for a dinner. It was really good...
Everyone loves puppies. Appropriate because the English Corner topic was Pets.
One of Chongqing's millions of food markets
MeatThis must be what happens to the meat after it is consumed... I have NEVER smelled anything so foul.
Ash at her apartment with a group of her Cooking Club students
We took a field trip to the Tou River. It is really low this time of year.
Downtown Luzhou
Tou River View
A little lizard on my windowsill... not like the geckos in South Carolina...
Ash and I made a trip with one of my students to a weird maybe once hopeful tourist attraction outside Luzhou, Jiushi Shan. Shan is Chinese for mountain. It was a strange place, but we had a blast...
Village on the mountain
Farmland
Riding the chariot... not sure to where...
Gigantic Chinese cemetery
Bulls
Cyndi and I in front of the 'dinosaur bones'
Luzhou Countryside
Rope Bridge and run down hotel
On the bridge
Students working on their journals
Typical night out in Alcohol City
My British counterpart blabbing at an English Corner
I got roped into directing some weird play. This is rehearsal.
My Qinghai students
We hold our paddles differently.
My citymate Phil with an old man sneakily taking a photos of us eating. He was not slick...
I take a lot of pictures... sorry. These aren't even all the pics I want to post. I want to try and skype with everyone soon, so be prepared... As always, Ash is updating her blog, so CHECK IT OUT! I will also be updating more pics very soon... Tomb Sweeping Day is next week. I can't wait to see what it is all about.
Hope to talk to you soon, love and miss you all!

Good stuff, John, thanks for the post. You definitely seem to be getting under the surface more & into the grit and muscle of Luzhou.
