New Glarus, Wisconsin

We visited New Glarus, WI, last weekend, about halfway between Monroe and Madison, settled in the 1800s by Swiss immigrants, a 2-hour drive. Lotta dairy farms, still many Swiss and German residents (overheard many conversations in German at the hotel, (visiting European tourists?), and biking trails. No biking for us, though, in the snow & cold.

But we did take a nice long hike on a snowy trail in a state park; visited a brewery; and walked around to shops, bars & restaurants in town, which was just a block from where we stayed. Listened to a polka band Saturday night (The Zweifel Brothers!).
