Remote Figuring it Out

School starts Monday and we are still in the states. We will begin our remote journey tomorrow, so I figured it would be good to post our doings before the mayhem kicks off.
 Goats
Only GOATS can prevent forest fires
 Can you spot the dog?
Air quality is still struggling to normalize
Dry Creek Chinook Salmon Sanctuary (there were no salmon)
Co and Lee "working" on their "computers"
Half Moon Bay State Beach
That's fog, not smoke

The beach brings out the best in everyone

Summer Heat

Whats up Fam?!?!? Time for another update!

We had some good temps and blue sky upon arrival, but since have been held inside by a gnarly heat wave and dangerous air quality (due to forest fires all around).

Luckily Ash and I finished our first week of night conferences so we dont have any major plans.

The girls have been really great indoors, but we did try and get out a couple of times. Being unfamilar as I am with forest fires, we were generally unsuccessful...

Black Diamond Mines Natural Reserve was closed...
Contra Loma Regional Park was also closed
Not even any fun in Fun Town!
We found a park in Lodi that was partially open.
It was one of THOSE kind of days.
Abandoned "water park"

We are rolling along. First day of school is about a week away and we are figuring it out. I will continue to update you all on our situation and with my failures as a California outdoorsman. Love and miss you all.

Also, a picture of me on my first day of meetings at my new school. Enjoy!
PEACE!!!

Old Hiking Techniques, New Surroundings

You better believe we dove headfirst into the hiking scene almost as soon as we arrived here in the north burbs of Sactown! Believe it or not, things are JUST as boring during quarantine in California as they are in Chicago. Luckily for the Nomadic Elys we have new places to explore
Jack London State Historic Park
The Wolf House
New wild reptile handling (western fence lizard)
Jack London's Cottage Koi Pond

This is a new sign! Something tells me we won't be handling any of these...
Kaseberg "Creek"
Secret Dirt Bike Trail
Effie Yeaw Nature Center
Wild Turkeys!

Beautiful candy air sunsets

Robie Point- Auburn, CA
Benji!
Ralston Peak- Eldorado National Forest
Ran into a bear family on this hike. Luckily I was alone and my scent must have been unappealing.

Till next time! We miss everyone of you!

California Ho!

Off to Northern California! With intentions of splitting up the trip and giving Enrique (our Escape) some needed breaks; we overnighted in Boulder County, CO (two nights) and Spanish Fork, UT.

Lafayette, Colorado

Cora and Lea made themselves comfortable
Butterfly Pavilion
Flagstaff Peak

Thank you Ana and Garrett for the hospitality! We will definitely be coming to visit again someday.

Utah

During the next leg we stopped by Moab and a few other quick places of historical significance.

Linwood Cemetery, Glenwood Springs, CO

Dewey Bridge Campground- The ol' luggage sack needed additional support
Highway 128

Arches National Park

Roseville, California

Finally, after a little drama we arrived into the open arms of Cali with some good luck!

We love and miss everyone!
