English Tutoring

An email from Kathy:

Today I began volunteering and it was so fun! They assigned me to a high school and the people there were really nice. I worked with the english teacher there and she set me up with different time slots... so here is what I will be doing:

Weds: 11:30-12:30~ I work with 13 year olds during their study hall. I started today and they go in groups of 3 and talk to me just about anything...they are really cute and I had a lot of fun talking to them in spanish and english today! One of the little boys didn't know any english except he perfectly asked me "do you have a boyfriend?" It was pretty hilarious.

From 12:30-2 I talk with the professors who don't know very much english but want to learn more...all the professors were incredibly nice and they all were eager to try and speak english. It was much more encouraging to speak spanish because they were in the same boat as me.

Then on Thurs. nights from 6-8 I am going to be helping out in a vocational class...a class that is not taught through the university but some tourism program that kids take if they don't got to the University of Sevilla. The teacher said they have projects they have to do in english and she was really excited to have my help.

So I am real excited for the next two weeks because this is going to be so great for me to speak more spanish and to encounter more stuff here. I am mad that the guy just set me up now with this opportunity because I only really have 2-3 weeks left excluding holidays and finals and what not. But I am so happy with this set up because I will be working with people from 3 different age groups...3 year olds, people my age, and high school professors.
